This morning I found myself thinking about marriage. Kind of weird as my anniversary is not for a few months.
Our family has gone through a few transitions the last few months. Perhaps this is why my thoughts wandered a bit.
Marriage, as defined by the dictionary, is : “the state of being united as spouses.”
We take much time in planning our weddings. Yet there is no way we can even comprehend nor imagine, what the road ahead will hold for us.
The beauty experienced on our wedding day is but a mere shadow of the beauty which we experience after years of traveling the road with our spouse.
The challenges, the ups and downs, the joys, and the pains all somehow mell to create a canvas of two lives that are united.
The two lives came together to form one partnership, one trust, one legacy.
As the years passed, and the partnership was built one layer at a time, the love deepened, the protection became more fierce.
It happened as the years passed. Maybe that is why the verse fell so differently, so powerfully this morning:
“The Lord blessed the latter days of Job more than his beginning …”
(Job 42:12,NASB)
The beginning of various events (or circumstances) are usually exciting, filled with anticipation of what can come. The middle is where the struggle begins and can be hardest.
When we stay the course, faithfully seeking God,
asking for His hand to remain on us,
the ending will be sweeter and filled with blessing.
“No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined
what God has prepared for those who love him.”
(1 Corinthians 2:9, NLT)
Reflection:
Are you in the middle of a circumstance, or relationship, waiting for change? Or a blessing?
How can you take encouragement from this verse in Job?
