Breathe

By: Jenifer Metzger

Friend, today I simply want to tell you to breathe.

Holidays can be wonderful, but they can also be difficult. Between family drama, traveling, making sure our home is just so, worrying about who is bringing what, all the cleaning, all the cooking, all the dishes, matching family outfits, that one family member who rocks the boat with political talk, the family member who asks personal questions you don't have answers to, there is just so much. And as women, we tend to fret over every bit of it.

So today, whether you are traveling out of town, making a last minute grocery run, cleaning house, prepping food, or whatever you to-do list has for you, breathe. Take a moment to close your eyes, lower your shoulders, and just breathe.

After you take that deep breath, pray and give thanks to God. Thank Him for everyone you will be visiting for the holiday, thank Him for those you won't be able to see this year, thank Him for the bounty of food you will enjoy, for the friendships you have, the home you will celebrate in, thank Him for the gift of salvation. Give thanks because He is good and worthy of our praise.

Everything will be okay. The day may not be perfect, holidays rarely are. However, it will all be okay.

Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good.
His faithful love endures forever.
Psalm 136:1 CSB

Discussion:
1. What is one thing you are most thankful for this year?
2. How will you be celebrating Thanksgiving tomorrow?
