Today as I read through Psalm 8, I was overcome with emotion. God is so good. So marvelous. So majestic. So powerful. He is worthy of all our praise.
It can be so easy to get up in the morning and get our day started. Brew some coffee, shower, start on chores, and continue about our day without ever pausing to just worship God. Even in our quiet time it can be easy to go through the quiet time "check-list" of reading our Bible and praying, even then forgetting to just worship Him.
We ask for forgiveness of our sins and we lift needs to God, but do we just worship? Do we sit with God and tell Him how wonderful He is? How much we love Him? Do we lift His name on high?
I think of my relationship with my husband. I can ask him for help; I can ask how his day went or what is going on at work; I can eat dinner with him, we can talk about the grandbabies, watch TV with together, or we can even go on a walk together. All of that is good, but even more important is telling him how much I love him. Telling him how grateful I am for him, thanking him for working hard for our family, and telling him what he means to me.
Our husband, our children, all of our loved ones, need to hear that we love them, that we are thankful for them. Likewise, God also wants to hear our worship.
We need to be intentional with pausing from our daily tasks, pausing from asking for things, and just worship Him. We need to tell God how great He is and how much we love Him.
Today be intentional with pausing to just worship God. To give praise to Him, to lift His name on high.
Discussion:
1. When is the last time you simply sat with God and told Him how wonderful He is?
2. If you are unsure what that looks like, simply tell God that He is wonderful, mighty God, Prince of Peace, worthy of praise, high and lifted up. Your soul yearns to worship Him so start here and let the Spirit of God move you to continue to worship Him.
