Do you ever feel like you're not good enough? Has anyone told you that you're not good enough? Do you ever compare yourself with others? Have you ever thought you're not worthy of God's love? If so, you're not alone. Many people struggle with their self-worth, I sure did, and it can be difficult to believe that God loves us unconditionally.
But the truth is, God loves us more than we could ever imagine. He sees us as we truly are, and he loves us anyway. He doesn't love us because of what we've done or haven't done but because of who HE is.
Here are just a few of the many verses that tell us who God says we are:
—"See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!" 1 John 3:1 — NIV.
— "For you are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus" Galatians 3:26— NLT
— "For you are a people holy to the Lord your God. The Lord, your God, has chosen you out of all the peoples on the face of the earth to be his people, his treasured possession." Deuteronomy 7:6— NIV.
— "I have loved you, my people, with an everlasting love. With unfailing love I have drawn you to myself." Jeremiah 31:3— NLT.
— "I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master's business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you." John 15:15— NIV.
Here are some additional thoughts to help you embrace your true identity in Christ:
— You are forgiven. No matter what you've done, God's love for you is not dependent on your performance. He's forgiven you through the blood of Jesus, and he sees you as holy and blameless.
— You are redeemed. God has rescued you from the power of sin and death, and he has given you a new life in Christ. You are now a child of God and have the promise of eternal life.
— You are empowered. The Holy Spirit lives inside of you, giving you the power to live a victorious life. You can overcome any obstacle because you have the power of God on your side.
It took me a long time to grasp that God sees us as his beloved children, worthy of love and grace. He values us more than we could ever imagine, and nothing can separate us from his love. We are not defined by our past mistakes or shortcomings but rather by the redemption and forgiveness offered through Jesus Christ.
Let's Reflect
So if you are struggling with feelings of inadequacy or self-doubt, remember that you are loved and valued by the Creator of the universe. You have a purpose and a plan, and nothing can stand in the way of the blessings God has in store for you. Embrace your identity in Christ, and live boldly and confidently, knowing you are fearfully and wonderfully made.
