Such is the confidence we have
through Christ before God.
2 Corinthians 3:4 CSB
If you know me in real life, confident is probably not the first word you use to descried me. Anxiety and worry have made confidence very difficult to have. As I got older I realized that I’m not the only person who has had this trouble with being confident.
Why is it so common in today’s world to lack confidence? It is more common to have self doubts, hatred of your own image, and social anxiety. The devil uses all of this, hating yourself, worrying about how you look, etc to control you. It’s hard to believe in God’s love when you see yourself as unlovable.
But God tells us that it doesn’t have to be this way. It hurts God to see His children, His creation, struggling like this. He calls us beautiful, wonderful, works of art. We are children of the King! God is calling us to not just be confident but to be confident through Him. We can find confidence in His love, His faithfulness to us, in His care, we can find confidence in Him.
For the Lord will be your confidence.
Proverbs 3:26a CSB
What a wonderful verse! This verse shows us that God calls us to use Him to find our confidence. God knows us and knows that being confident isn’t going to be easy for us. So instead of saying “Goodluck, hope you figure it out,” He tells us that we don’t have to do this alone. That He will give us the confidence we need.
But why is having it so important? Well I believe that it’s
not only important to our life but also our walk with God. God has such amazing
plans for us, which sometimes might bring us to places new and uncomfortable. We
need to be prepared for those moments so when they come, instead of shying away
and running, we are able to fully embrace God’s plan.
It even talks about the benefits of confidence in the Bible,
in Hebrews 10:35 it says “ Therefore do not throw away your confidence, which
has a great award.” A great award! When I was thinking of this verse, my mind
instantly drifted towards Esther. In her story it would have been easier for her
to shy away from speaking up, she was risking her life to go to the king and
beg for her people. But because she had bravery and confidence God rewarded her
with not only becoming queen of a great nation but also saving all of her
people! So if this is what God considers a great award I can’t wait to see what He has plans for us!
In our faith in God we not only gain confidence but are reward for gaining it too! We don't have to have the self doubt, the self hatred, the worry. We are daughters of the King! So whenever you are starting to have those negative thoughts coming to your mind, remind your of Whose child you are. The world might call you some awful and ugly things but God calls us His loves, His beautiful creations, His children.
Discussion:
1. When do you struggle with confidence the most?
2. Think of how you talk to and about yourself. What would you say to your daughter, sister, or best friend if you heard her saying those things about herself?
Grace, this is so good. If we would just have faith and truly know that God created us just as He wanted us, we could be confident! ♥
