How to Be a Warrior Princess in God's Kingdom

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might.

Ephesians 6:10 NASB

We need more warriors for God's kingdom in this time of history. Ones who are willing to fight fiercely for their faith. I have no doubt that God is calling you and me to be warrior princesses for his glory in this current age.

But how do we do this? Let's break down this famous passage in Ephesians 6 for practical application. I'm taking it verse by verse from Ephesians 6:10-18 NASB.

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might.

Your strength as a warrior princess comes from God alone, not yourself. This is wonderful reassurance on days when you feel too weak to take a stand against the enemy. The Lord's strength will flow through you - just ask him for it.

Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.

You need to armor up as a warrior princess. But keep a soft heart behind that armor - one that is open to God and the people he loves. Your armor is against your enemy, Satan, and all his minions.

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.

Always keep in mind that the fights you face are in the spiritual realm even more than in the physical realm. Your spiritual enemy is real and wants to defeat you in the physical realm. But you can fight back with the tools described below.

Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist on the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.

The full armor of God will cover you from head to toe. But it's your job to put it on each day. You do your part in armoring up, and God will work through you more powerfully, warrior princess.

Stand firm therefore, having belted your waist with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness,

Stand firm, not letting anything shake your faith. A good way to do this is to reflect on all the times God has been faithful to you in the past, so you will hang on to the hope he'll be faithful to you again. Belt your waist with the truth of his Word by reading it and meditating on it daily. Righteousness will cover your heart if you commit to following Jesus' example each day, taking up your cross and following him rather than your own will (Luke 9:23).

and having strapped on your feet the preparation of the gospel of peace;

Peace is such a wonderful gift to give, especially in the face of conflict. If you set out to be a peacemaker, you won't be as fearful with the Prince of Peace as your leader in every fight you face.

in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.

Your faith is an incredible gift. It is a protection that the enemy Satan cannot take away from you, unless you let him. Strengthen it daily through prayer and praise.

And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

Your salvation is already secure if you believe that Jesus died for your sins. Nothing can shake it. Remember that the Holy Spirit is your constant guide in all the battles you face, and you can gain fresh guidance from him in scripture at all times of the day or night.

With every prayer and request, pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be alert with all perseverance and every request for all the saints.

Prayer is one of the most powerful ways to fight back in the spiritual realm. Pray for your own protection, and don't forget to pray for others as a way to wage war against the enemy.

Let nothing stop you from being a warrior princess in God's kingdom, friend. You will be rewarded for the battles in which you engage! Be bold in your faith, declaring that Jesus already has the victory secured for you. Move forward knowing that God will strengthen you and uphold you with his righteous right hand while you are warring (Isaiah 41:10). Fight back with praise in the day, and rest peacefully each night, knowing God is watching over you and protecting you.

  2. These are so familiar to many of us, yet we need to actually use this armor. It's heartening to know that the tools, faith, and strength come from Him.

  4. Ephesians 6 is one of my favorite chapters. I especially lean on 6:12. No matter how many times we take care of the symptoms, if we don't focus on the root, issues will continue to grow back. Since our battle isn't flesh and blood, we must pray for discernment to pull those spiritual roots.

  6. So important to be reminded to use the armor and protection we have been given. Then we will be able to - "Fight back with praise in the day, and rest peacefully each night, knowing God is watching over you and protecting you."

  7. Thank you for reminding me to always seek to suit up in his full armor daily. This ensures that whatever rocks Satan throws at me bounce off God's armor. Thank you for this beacon of encouragement.
