"For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace." ~ Isaiah 9:6
The year was 1992, my husband and I, were both young and in love and didn't have a care in the world. When Christmas time rolled around we had very little money and no ornaments to put on our tree, so we got creative and made them. We cut out pictures from Christmas wrapping paper and glued them to cardboard, then we painted them with clear fingernail polish, and hung them with gold thread.
To this day they are some of my favorite ornaments. This Christmas season lets take time to remember that Christmas doesn't have anything to do with the fanciest decorations or the best presents. It's about loving others with a deep and true love from the bottom of your heart, while showing them who Christ really is.
This song by Steven Curtis Chapman is a special one for our family. Every year when the kids were little we would put this song on before they came out to open their presents. I still hold in my heart the joyful squeals of delight and the smiles brighter than the sun, as they saw what waited before them on such magical of Christmas days.
Friends, I want you to enjoy this Christmas for what it's really all about, the love of family and friends that we hold so dear in our hearts, and the miracle of Christ's birth.
(I hope you enjoy this song as much as we do. Just click on the x to remove the add.)
