The Power of a Daily Pause

BySarah Geringer

Listen to my voice in the morningLord. Each morning I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly.

Psalm 5:3 NLT

One of my biggest takeaways from the She Speaks conference this year is this: take a daily pause.

I've already had the habit of reading my One Year Bible during breakfast, since 2003. But I want to be more intentional with my journaling.

For the past few weeks since the conference, I've been taking a daily pause before my work begins. I record things in my one-line-a-day journal, my gratitude journal, and my prayer journal. This daily pause has given me a huge measure of greater peace.

What I'm adding this week to the daily pause: daily scripture writing, and a plank. Yes, I need something to reduce my muscle tissue loss in midlife, and a plank after all of this head knowledge is a good thing!

I hope you won't leave out the most important part of a daily pause: connecting with God.

A daily pause to read God's Word will change you more than anything else - I promise you'll see a difference in only a week, if you do it consistently. Then if you meditate on it, pray it, write it out and talk it out, you'll be more spiritually fit faster than you can imagine - I'm proof of this!

Also, a quick pause in the morning to connect with God will set the tone for the whole day. I've been doing this for years, and it makes all the difference in my peace level.

If you start a daily pause, what will you put in it? I'd love to hear from you in the comments.

Check out my prayer journal, my one-line-a-day journal, and a popular post I wrote about writing out scriptures.
