We've all had "one of those days." A day when nothing seems to go right. A day when we you are so tired you can't think straight. A day when your shoulders carry the stress of the world, or maybe just the stress of your home. A day when anxiety feels like it is through the roof. A day when everything just feels off.
On these days when our hearts are heavy and tensions are high, it can feel easy to let go of the one thing we need the most: time with the Father.
We feel too stressed or agitated to sit down and pray and read the Bible. We are too tired to stay focused on prayer and the Word. If we do pray, we feel like our prayers are hitting the ceiling and bouncing back. If we manage to crack open the pages of the Bible, we can't seem to let the words sink into our mind or heart.
We all have these days. Jesus knew we would. The Bible tells us in Matthew to come to Him. When life is too hard, He is there. When tempers flare, He is there. When our stress level is maxed out, He is there. When the kids won't listen, He is there. When the teenager continues to test us, He is there. No matter what we face, no matter what makes us weary, He is there.
When we give our burdens to the Lord, He gives us the rest and refreshing that we so desperately need. He wants us to come to Him! He wants us to place our burden on Him! Even when it feels too hard to pray, press in, pray. Even when reading the Bible is the last thing you feel like doing, open the pages, read. Go to Jesus. Tell Him how you're feeling. Lean on Him.
If you are having "one of those days," go to Him. Let Jesus give you His rest.
