"For you are saved by grace through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is God’s gift— not from works, so that no one can boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared ahead of time for us to do." ~Ephesians 2:8-10
A song came on the radio that our family has come to absolutely love since hearing it for the first time two years ago at church. It is entitled “God is on the Move”, and one of the lines is, “God is on the move in many mighty ways”.
It got me thinking.
I have friends who have gotten book deals over the past couple years. I also have friends who sorely want book deals and don’t yet have them.
But you know what?
God is still on the move, either way. He is on the move in YOUR life, wherever you are.
People will say on Instagram when someone announces a book deal, “God is on the move in your life!!” And that’s true, He is. He absolutely is.
But the same is also true for you, right where you are, surrounded by the same 9-to-5 job as always, the same kiddos who sanctify you like nothing else, the same house as five years ago, the same challenging situation, the same bank account, the same whatever.
God’s work in this world is not limited to book deals, public stages, and big promotions (not to belittle any of those things at all!). God’s moving in your life sometimes looks like Him giving you the strength to endure. Sometimes it looks like His being your sustaining power while your spouse is deployed. Sometimes it looks like Him giving you joy when covered in mountains of laundry and to-do lists a mile long.
God is on the move in YOUR life, whether it feels like it or not. He has good works prepared for you to do, good works which He prepared before the dawning of time. Do not limit Him to a book deal, a stage, or 100,000 followers. He’s bigger than that. And sometimes that looks like Him moving in the moments and situations that this world would deem “small”.
