Relationships take time and commitment. Imagine, if you never paid any time or attention to your spouse? That would not make for a very fruitful marriage. Neither spouse would get the chance to truly know each other. It would be like you were married to a complete stranger.
Now imagine having the same type of attitude with God. If we never prayed, never read our Bible and never worshiped Him, the relationship with our Savior would be lifeless.
This week, I listened to part of a testimony of a young girl that I new when when she was just a baby. She said that, "A few years ago, I decided to crank up my relationship with Jesus a notch, and began reading my Bible every single day. And that decision has changed the depth of my relationship with Jesus. That's the number one thing that has deepened my relationship with Jesus. And that sort of relationship is cultivated by being people who are saturated in God's Word." - Robyn Schad
Rejoice in hope, patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. - Romans 12:12
If we want our relationship with Christ to grow, we need to do three things.
- Decide - Each and every morning when we wake up we need to decide to make our relationship with God a priority.
- Commit - We need to commit to doing things that will deepen our relationship with God, such as, reading our Bible, praying and worshipping God.
- Repeat - We need to repeat steps one and two every day.
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to path. - Psalm 119:105
Are you ready to crank up your relationship with Jesus a notch? I know I am.
