Prepared to Stand Strong

"All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work." ~2 Timothy 3:16-17

You have likely been privy to all the myriad of “conspiracy theories” and the like going around this year, especially. There are many floating around out there, and subsequent fear, anxiety, stress, and wringing of hands abound.

There is much debate raging right now about whether or not these theories are true and valid. But what I do not see being said very much (even by those believers who do also believe that the theories are true!) is the truth and importance of our growing in biblical literacy and making the time to pour over God’s Word and study it.

Because here’s the thing: if worse comes to worse and all sorts of crazy theories prove true, we are going to have to be equipped and made strong to stand “in the evil day” (see Ephesians 6:13).

Knowing all about the different conspiracy theories is one thing. But do you know the firm foundation of truth you can cling to if the worst of them turns out to be valid? Or is more time being spent scrolling through google and attempting to piece everything together than time is being spent memorizing Scripture and burying it down deep in your heart?

Friend, if everything goes to you-know-where in a hand basket and freedoms are dashed, Bibles are confiscated, and church is deemed illegal, guess what will be the only thing you may have left (besides the Lord )? It will be the truth of Scripture that you have hidden in your heart. *That* is why I emphasize all the time the importance of Bible study - it is only God’s Word that can equip us for our daily lives (see 2 Timothy 3:16-17). We must be in it and growing in our understanding of it in order to live well in the days ahead, whatever they may hold!
