If only we were immovably, unshakably convinced of God's goodness. If only we really, truly believed that there is no shadowy, scary darkness, nothing shifty, lurking in His character. If only we knew without a doubt that everything He does is right, He really does work everything together for our good, and He only does what is beneficial for us. If only we really knew beyond a shadow of doubt the limitlessness of His love for us and that nothing can separate us from His love. If only we really knew, really believed, all of these things, maybe we wouldn't be so anxious or worried or fearful. Maybe we'd trust God even when we don't "get" Him or understand what He's doing. Maybe we'd get less frustrated and upset when His timing isn't our timing. Maybe we'd let go and let Him be God when His way isn't the way we think things should be. Just maybe.
Lord, I want to believe in your goodness. I want to believe that everything You do is right and comes from a heart that is full of light and love and goodness with not an iota of darkness in it. I want to be confident in Your love and in the fact that You always do what is best for me. Lord, I believe. Help my unbelief.
