The Lord is my Light-(my Dawn, my Daylight, my Sunshine, the Light of my Life)
and my Salvation-(my Deliverance, my Safety, my Rescue, my Victory)-
whom shall I fear or dread?
The Lord is the Refuge and Stronghold-(Defense, Fortress, Helmet, Protection)
of my life-of whom shall I be afraid?
We don't have to live very long before we realize that life on planet earth is unpredictable. All of us have been in the middle of an ordinary day when, suddenly, we are faced with a test, trial or difficult circumstance that we didn't see coming. After a while, it can make a body gun-shy, causing us to live in dread and evil foreboding of what might happen. We can actually stop really living life today because of fear, worry and anxiety about tomorrow. Instead of continually wrestling with imaginary hypothetical scenarios, maybe we should shift our focus onto what is for sure. The Lord has always been and always will be there for us to run to. He will always be there to bring light into our darkest times. He will always be there ready and willing to help us, rescue us, save us and deliver us. He will always be there as our defense and protection. Looking back, God has never failed me even in my darkest times. We can count on it that He will never fail us in the future, whatever may come our way. I love this quote by Corrie Ten Boom, "Worry does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow. It empties today of its strength." Let's live strong by living in the Stronghold of God's love, care and protection instead of in fear or dread.
still following,
I'm someone who thrives on predictability, so it naturally follows that the Lord forces me out of my comfort zone with plenty of unpredictable days in my life. That's good, however, as it makes me rely upon Him. I'm so sorry to hear of the loss of your nephew. I'm praying for your family this morning.
