Is praise a part of your daily routine? I can’t say that it’s
always a part of mine, but this passage reminds me to make praise a priority.
Why is praising God important? Praise keeps us in right
relation to God. He is the Potter; we are His instruments. We were created to
give Him praise. If nature
cries out praise to Him, we need to praise Him too!
Praise keeps us focused on the positive. Life can be hard
and discouraging. Intentional praise reorients our focus on God’s wonderful character,
which never changes despite our circumstances. Praise uplifts our views.
Praise helps us hope for the future. Focusing on good things
now helps us have faith that the future is good, because God is good. Making
praise a part of our everyday routines will bless us greatly!
To praise God with my whole heart, I must remove
distractions. Here’s how it works for me:
·
Sitting down at the kitchen table in the morning
to read my Bible in total focus, and praising God along with psalmists.
·
Choosing to praise instead of listening to the
radio during times when I’m driving alone.
·
Listening to praise music on my evening walks
and singing along.
Removing distractions during these times helps me
focus on God’s goodness. What distractions do you need to remove in your time
of intentional praise?
Press pause to praise God for all the good things He's done this year.
To remember the good things He does for me, I am reflecting
on the past year and praising God for the blessings.
How has God shown goodness in your children’s lives this year? He’s been faithful in my oldest son’s transition from private to public school. He’s helped my middle son grow godly friendships and gain STEM knowledge. He’s helped my daughter, the baby of the family, develop a deep love of reading and art. In what ways have your children seen God’s goodness?
How has God been good to you this year? He was good to me when I quit my job as a high school secretary and pursued the freelance life. He gave me the income I needed and blessed my writing abilities. Through His wondrous and mysterious ways, He led me to sign with a literary agency. I’m counting those blessings this year, and I’d love to hear from you in the comments below how God has been good to you.

How has God been good in your marriage this year? He has strengthened
our bond through financial trials and a tough winter of seasonal affective
disorder. We’re celebrating God’s goodness to us with a date this weekend. How
can you celebrate God’s goodness with your spouse?
Through the next several weeks, I’ll lead you through Psalm
103 on Fridays. You can use it in your personal meditation time this week for
praise inspiration. Hope to see you here again!
Have a wonderful week!
Blessings and God's peace to you,
