The ladies in our church have just started a new Bible study. It's called "Hosea - Unfailing Love Changes Everything" and it is by Jennifer Rothschild. I must admit I wasn't particularly excited to do this study. Until our first evening! I've always considered Hosea to just be the prophet who married a prostitute. In fact, most of the time I normally skip over it when reading.
When we had our meeting this past Sunday, I was pleasantly surprised. I am finding a renewed interest in this book of the Bible...after just 1 evening! I think what is drawing me to this study is that the marriage of Hosea and Gomer is representative of God and His relationship with Israel with Hosea representing God and Gomer representing us...you and me. I just realized that if Gomer represents me...then I am likened to a prostitute. I'm not sure how I feel about that. However, I remember that despite her situation, God chose Gomer for Hosea. Therefore, that means that God has also chosen me! I've been chosen by the Master!!
I am looking forward to the next 6 weeks as my beautiful friends and I explore more about Hosea and his unlikely wife! Have a wonderfully blessed day!
