I am the Light of the World

By: Shari A. Miller

I think Christmas is one of the most beautiful times of the year. Our Christmas tree is up with it's lights twinkling ever so bright and it's decorations are hung with gentle care. The homemade stockings are hung on the fire place, waiting to be filled with goodies on Christmas morn. The brightly lit lights are hung outside to bring joy to all who pass by.

However, for some at Christmas, it doesn't seem like a beautiful time at all...

Some may have. different obstacles that cloud over the light of Christmas time. Whether it be the loss of a job, the passing of a loved one, the waiting on test results to see if an illness has gotten worse, or  a lack of income to buy the gifts that their little ones so desperately desire.

Or, it could be a heart issue......the brokenness of a heart that has been shattered by the weight of earthly pain, that one can no longer bare.

When these situations arise there is only one thing that our weary souls can do. We need to block out all the noise that weighs deep on our inner most beings, we need to be still and focus on the one thing that will give us peace.

Jesus

It's Jesus who brings us hope when we think we can no longer go on. It's Jesus who lights the way, when the rest of the world seems bleak. Let's turn our gaze to Jesus, the light of the world, for it's then that we will never walk in darkness again.

"Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” - John 8:12
