One thing that I think us women have received a mixed blessing with is our long term memories.
I personally struggle with this in a negative way.
Somebody will say or do something, or I will happen to do the same, in a way that it brings back memories related to what is said or done that will cause me to become overwhelmed and react in a negative way.
We all can tend to react similarly to the people around us. A friend, son, daughter, husband, brother, or sister will do something we are annoyed by or will do something that hurts us. We are then led to throwing each and every negative thing we have perceived to have been done against us by that certain individual in the past.
Yep, our long-term memories can be a curse sometimes.
In Song of Solomon though, a scripture verse relates to this situation.
Catch for us the foxes, the little foxes that ruin the vineyards, our vineyards that are in bloom.
-Song of Solomon 2:15
The little foxes referred to in the above scripture could be seen as all the negative memories we can be plagued with sometimes. Like a fox, all these negative memories do is cause discord in our lives if we do not take control of them, ruining the beauty God has in store for us.
So next time you are tempted to dig up past memories of the mistakes of yourself and others and let those little foxes run about, remember to take them captive to not ruin the full garden of blooms that God has given you.
Blessings-
Emily
