"10 Don’t be afraid,
for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged,
for I am your God. I will
strengthen you
and help you. I will hold you up with my
victorious right hand."
Isaiah 41:10 NLT
I was doing a short devotion this afternoon and it was perfect for
what I've been going through thus far this week. The writer of this
devotion starts out by saying "Sometimes
fear shows up with a cute little suitcase packed full of lies."
Boy, oh, boy! That's what grabbed my attention because honestly that's
what happened to me this week.
Out of no where I am suddenly hit with this fear. It shows
up and decides it wants to just camp out. I know that God is not the
author of fear. 2 Timothy 1:7 tells us, "7 For
God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and
self-discipline." And in Isaiah, God says He will hold us up with His victorious right hand! So why am I letting this 'visitor' cause me grief!!!
I know what I know. I know that the One True God is with me! I know that in Him there is no way fear can
be victorious! I know that in Him fear
can NOT reside in me! That's why I am
putting fear on notice…Get Out! You will
not make me fearful in my own home! You
will not make me fearful of every noise I hear!
You will NOT own me! I belong to
God and God alone! Make no mistake…you
do NOT belong in my life! In the name of
Jesus Christ, the Son of God, you are defeated!!!
Are you struggling with fear today? Has fear taken up residence in your heart? Well, I want to challenge you to read Isaiah 41:10 over and over until you believe every word of it! God is with you and He promises to hold you up! I want to challenge you to read 2 Timothy 1:7 over and over until you realized deep down in your heart that God has not given you the spirit of fear but He HAS given you a spirit of power, love and self-discipline. The King James Version reads like this, "7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but
of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."
God created us to have power over the enemy, to love like God loves and to have a sound mind. To have a 'sound mind' is to have a mind that has been delivered, rescued, revived, salvaged, and protected and is now safe and secure. That should excite you. I sure excites me! My mind has been delivered from fear, rescued from the wiles of the devil, revived from near death, salvaged from desperation and protected by God and it's safe and secure. I won't open the door for fear. He can just go knock on someone else's mind. Mine isn't allowing him in any more!!!
I pray today that you have a wonderful and fearless day, in Jesus' name!
