Wait on the Lord

By: Emily Miller

I don't know about you, but there are times where the work we do can get so repetitive that it is downright dreary at times.

I am currently a full time senior at college, and I've been ready to graduate since about the beginning of October.

I am still getting my work done, but when it comes to class lectures my mind has not always been paying attention to the instructor. I have been wanting to be done with all the classes, all the papers, every last bit of it.

Yet, God places us at each stage in our lives for a reason. While we are at the stage of life God has currently placed us at, He does not want us to rush through it.

We cannot always be wishing our lives away to the next moment that we think might be bigger and better. There is a good chance that the next stage in life we are wishing for will just bring a set of issues of it's own that we suddenly wish we could hurry through.

Instead, we need to stop, wait, and listen.

Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord!
-Psalm 27:4

This is still something I am learning to do today. I am finding that amazing things are unfolding before me if I tackle my life one day at a time. It brings me so much joy to look at my life this way instead of always looking forward to six months from now. When I continually look six months ahead I am missing the beauty and the miracles God has right before me. I even end up missing out on the lessons he is trying to teach me in the here and now.

If the stage of life you are at now may seem tiresome and dreary to you, I challenge you to take time out of your day to spend some quiet time with the Lord. Thank God for wherever he has placed you right now in life, and ask Him what He may want to teach you.

If you take a step back and wait patiently for the Lord, you will begin to see He has some marvelous plans and lessons for you right where you are today!

Blessings,

Emily

  1. Patience and waiting on God's timing - not what comes naturally to most of us! I believe we are often in situations to touch other people's lives. Look around your classes and residence and know that what you say and do may lay the seeds for someone's salvation years down the line ☺ Again, God's timing...

    1. Thank you for the reminder Allison. It's all about what I can do today, instead of always looking for what I will be doing years down the road.
