By Wednesday morning the election will be over. While I'd love to promise you that after all of these months of rancor and division we will finally be a nation at peace, I can't. No matter the results of this election, no matter who wins, we will still be a nation filled with problems and division. In fact, if there was such a thing as a candidate we could all agree on, even that would not result in peace. We would still have tribulations and trials and distress and frustration. That's normal life in a fallen world. Looking for peace to be found in a set of ideal circumstances in this life is an exercise in futility. Our search for peace can only be found in a Person. Jesus Christ is our source of peace. He is also the only one who can enable us to walk our life's journey on this broken earth victoriously. He's the conquering King Who will, in the fullness of time, return and straighten this whole mess out. But in the meanwhile, He's wants to enable you and I to live life in the the middle of this mess as more than a conqueror.
still following,
Elizabeth, you are so right. We cast our vote, pray, and trust that "His will be done." Blessings!
ReplyDeleteTrusting Him and drawing on His peace with you!
DeleteAbsolutely, Joanne! I know our church and so many individuals and gatherings of people all over the nation have been praying!
ReplyDeleteI pray to know to vote a good vote. Your scripture is so fitting for this week of election time. Love that you chose that one to share. And your post is a helpful reminder. Thanks

I prayed a lot as well! We vote by mail where I live so my voting is done!
DeleteVery wise words to remember as we finally wrap up this tragedy of an election. Let's pray that whoever ends being president does a better job of that than they did campaigning.
ReplyDeleteYes! Praying much for our nation!
DeleteWhat a great post, and one I needed to hear. Thank you so much for this great reminder. I was just talking with my family about how stressed out I am about this election, so thanks.
ReplyDeleteIt has been a stressful season! It's time to lean fully on the Prince of Peace.
