As I sit here typing this, with the television on in the background, I'm full aware that history will be made soon. Some will rejoice at the outcome, and others will be filled with despair.
No matter how you voted I know that one fact remains true...
God is still on the throne...
“Lord, the God of our ancestors, are you not the God who is in heaven? You rule over all the kingdoms of the nations. Power and might are in your hand, and no one can withstand you." 2 Chronicles 20:6
and He is in control of it all.
As we come together on the morning after the election we must remember this....
God wants us to live in unity and harmony with one another. He wants us to function as the body of Christ, each doing the job that He has called us to do.
"For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, 5 so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all
the others." ~ Romans 12:4-5
If the final outcome of the election has been reached by the time you read this, be patient with those whose candidate did not win, offer grace instead of anger. Be patient as the news settles in and extend Christ's love instead of a quick reaction to gloat and defend. Likewise, if your candidate didn't win, remember to offer love to your neighbor, treat others the way you would wish to be treated.
"A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger."
~ Proverbs 15:1
"Do everything without grumbling or arguing" ~ Philippians 2:14

Yes, God is still sovereign, so let's persevere in prayer.
ReplyDeleteKnowing God's sovereignty is a real comfort when we have so little control. May we pray for our nation and the world all year and not just election years. Thankful God uses election years to get our attention and remind us how much we need Him.
ReplyDeleteShari thank you for your sweet post. I truly believe this election has brought me to my knees for our nation and those in authority. We are told to do that but honestly I haven't like I should. I've even been praying for our media and that God would change their hearts and maybe some of that happened last night as they were humbled. PRAY, PRAY, PRAY for those who lost and those who won.
