For our family, it's that time of year once
again...V-A-C-A-T-I-O-N!! My husband and I always made a point to take a
vacation ever year when our kids were little. We started with a long
weekend when I was pregnant with the first of four bundles of joy! We
continued with the long weekend format until our youngest was 3 or 4 years old.
After several years of doing Branson, MO we decided that we needed to
enlarge our focus and decided to take 10 days. This allowed us to venture
further away from home than the 3 hours it took to get to Branson.

It was important to us to take that time every summer with our kids. It
was time just for us six! Our kids loved it. We loved it. As
a family we enjoyed about 17 states and the beautiful countryside created by
God!! Those vacations were and still are some of our favorite memories!
Our family is close and whenever possible our kids will go on vacation
with us to this day...in 2012 my hubby and I and our 4 kids and their families
all went together. This year, 2 of the kids and their families are going
along. And the day has finally arrived!!!
One reason I love vacation time
so much is because it affords us the opportunity to get some rest away from the
normal hustle & bustle of our life. Another reason is because we are
able to relax...we don't have to wake up early and rush off for the day.
We get to slow down a bit and
enjoy our time, our family and God's
creation!!
Leonardo Da Vinci said, "Every
now and then go away, have a little relaxation, for when you come back to your
work your judgment will be surer. Go some distance away because then the
work appears smaller and more of it can be taken in at a glance and a lack of
harmony and proportion is more readily seen." Is that not
some of the greatest advice ever! Not only is it great advice but it is
the absolute truth!
So, as I prepare to leave this evening I challenge you, if you don't already take a vacation...take one...even if it's just a long weekend or even just a weekend! Go somewhere other than 'home' and take some time to rest and relax!! Take some time to enjoy God's creation!!
