I love my wedding ring! It is a simple gold band attached to my engagement ring that is a thin gold band with a princess cut (square) diamond. It is totally me! I love my ring and I very rarely take it off. The few times that I've had to take it off because of my fingers being swollen, I've carefully placed it somewhere that I know it will be safe.
My wedding ring is not an accessory. I don't wear it to be fashionable, flashy or just to have jewelry. I wear it as a reminder.
My ring:
- reminds me to pray for my husband. Every time I glace down and see my ring, I say a prayer for my husband. It may be a short prayer of, "God keep him safe" or it may be a lengthy, in depth prayer.
- reminds me of the commitment I made to my husband. Seeing my ring on my left hand, reminds of that wedding day (almost 19 years ago!) when I stood before our family, friends and our Father and committed myself to my husband. I see it and remember that I am his and he is mine. That we are united together as one flesh.
- reminds me of the truth that everything I do affects not only me but also my husband. Every choice I make has consequences. Some good, some bad. Either way, it affects not only me but also my husband and my family. Therefore, I need to make wise decisions.
- Tells the world that I am married. Anyone looking at me will see my ring and know that I am a married woman.
Don't take for granted that ring on your finger. Look at it, love it, see it as a beautiful reminder.
