Two Are Better

By: Jenifer Metzger

The last week has been a rough one for the ladies here at Woman to Woman. Several of us were struck with a bad flu bug in our homes. One of us had a serious sports injury with her daughter. One had a daughter who had complications in her pregnancy leading to an emergency cesarean (mother and baby are well!). One of us is battling cancer treatments and other issues in the home. It's been a rough week to say the least.

Due to everything going on, we have been pretty absent here on the blog and on social media. And then I posted a prayer request. Many of you told us you would be praying for us.

Oh friends. Isn't that what it's all about? Community. Standing in the gap for one another. Praying for those who need it. Isn't it amazing that we may have never met face to face, we may never hold hands or have a cup of coffee together, but what we can do is pray for one another.

Two are better than one,
because they have a good reward for their labor.
For if they fall, one will lift up his companion.
But woe to him who is alone when he falls,
for he has no one to help him up.
Again, if two lie down together, they will keep warm;
but how can one be warm alone?
Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him.
And a threefold cord is not quickly broken.
Ecclesiastes 4:9-12

I say it all the time; we were not meant to do this life alone. We need one another.

Sometimes it is difficult to ask for prayer for ourselves. We can throw out prayer requests for others at the drop of a hat. But to ask someone to pray for us? No, that is too hard. Why are we like that? Maybe it's a form of pride. Maybe we don't think we are deserving. Maybe we just don't want to bother others with our needs. Yet we need to. God shows us in His Word that two are better than one.

Ladies, it's time we take this verse in Ecclesiastes to heart. Remember that two are better than one. When you have a need, ask others to pray for you.

Today I come to you and ask you to lift the Woman to Woman team up in prayer. We need your prayers. I also come to you and ask how can I pray for you? Share your request in the comments and our team will be praying for you.

  2. Praying for the entire Woman to Woman team. All of you have been such an encouragement in my life especially right now. Yes, God created a body to love, encourage & pray for one another. He knows that when we are united together in Christ, we are stronger.

Like you said in the post, it is hard to ask for prayer for self. I would appreciate prayers right now regarding my health. The doctors say that I have mildly invasive follicular carcinoma of the thyroid. God says that I am healed. I have a 2nd surgery this coming Monday, May 23rd, to remove the other 1/2 of my thyroid. Trusting & believing in God's plan & purpose for my life.

  4. Sometimes it seems like when it rains, it pours. Praying for you all! My prayer request is for our care of my mother-in-law in our home. She is a "total assist" in medical parlance, can't do anything for herself. She's not hard to get along with - in fact, she is hardly verbal. But it's easy to get "weary in well doing" and fall into doing things out of duty rather than out of love.
