I am a list maker. I make grocery lists, to-do lists, meal lists, all kinds of lists. Lists are good. They help me stay organized and on track.
But there is one kind of list that is not helpful at all. In fact, this list is actually harmful. It's the list of your husband's wrongs.
As wives, we tend to keep a running list of all the wrong things our husband does. Or perhaps a running lists of what we did right?
But the Bible tells us in 1 Corinthians 13 verse 5, that love keeps no record of wrongs. No record. There is no exceptions, no special clauses for wives. It simply says that love keeps no record of wrongs. This means, we forgive our husband and throw out the list we've created.
Do unto others as you would have them do to you.
Luke 6:31
Think of this. Do you want your husband to keep a running list of all the things you've done wrong? All of the times he was right and you goofed up? Of course not! God's Word tells us to do unto others, this includes husbands, as we would have them to do us. Not as they do, but as we want them to do.
Ladies, it's time to throw out the lists we are making. Keep no record of your husband's wrongs and keep no record of the times you did it better. Treat your man well. Love him well.
Wow! This spoke straight to my heart! Definitely puts things into perspective for me. Thank you for this.
ReplyDeleteKrista, I'm so glad it spoke to you. It's definitely something that God is teaching me. God bless!
