What a special week it is...
A week to ponder and reflect about God's goodness in sending His only Son to die for our sins.
As I think about the magnitude of this, I sometimes wonder...
Am I doing Him justice?
Am I living my life in such a way that is worthy of such a great sacrifice?
An old familiar hymn couldn't describe my thoughts any better.
I'd Rather Have Jesus
I'd rather have Jesus than silver or gold,
I'd rather be His than have riches untold;
I'd rather have Jesus than houses or land,
Yes, I'd rather be led by His nail-pierced hand.
Than to be the king of a vast domain
And be held in sin's dread sway
I'd rather have Jesus than anything
This world affords today.
I'd rather have Jesus than worldly applause,
I'd rather be faithful to His dear cause;
I'd rather have Jesus than worldwide fame,
I'd rather be true to His holy name.
Than to be the king of a vast domain
And be held in sin's dread sway
I'd rather have Jesus than anything
This world affords today...

Do I want Him more than anything?
What about you?
Do you want God, more than your next breath?
In first Chronicles 16:11, God's Word says...
"Seek the Lord and His strength; Seek His face continually."
1 Chronicles 16:11
We need to daily remind ourselves how important it is to seek after His face. Without food our bodies will die, and when we do not spend time in prayer and reading His word, who we were meant to be dies as well.
God has amazing plans for our lives. The thing is they can't be lived out completely, unless we are in complete communion with Him.
It's time to make God the focus of our lives. Nothing more, nothing less, nothing else.
We need to daily train our minds to put aside all things in the world that can distract us. Things in this world will pass away, we can't take them with us. But God, that's who matters. Earth is just a training ground for us to learn to love and serve God, heaven is where our real home is.
Let's honor God with our whole hearts and continually seek after the One who sacrificed His Son, so we could be with Him forever more.
"You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart."
~ Jeremiah 29:13

ReplyDeleteI love how Easter takes us into hymns that we associate with the truth of it! Yesterday I was humming Beneath the Cross of Jesus!
ReplyDeleteI love that hymn. Happy Easter!
ReplyDeleteYes, I want God more than my next breath! Thank you for your beautiful post, a reminder to us all.
ReplyDeleteI love this in your message, it is something I am meditating on ... "Am I living my life in such a way that is worthy of such a great sacrifice?"
Thank you.
Thank you for posting the words to this beautiful hymn. They touch my heart and remind me of how important it is to value Jesus above all else. Yes, even more than our next breath. Nothing can take His place.
ReplyDeleteAnd He did it all for us.
Blessings,
Janis
The words of this old song are quite convicting! I want to love and desire Jesus above all else.
