There are many aspects of a healthy Christian marriage. One of those aspects is serving.
Serving as a husband and wife team has many benefits. Benefits like bonding together, meeting the needs of others, giving, learning to work side by side, and fulfilling the Great Commission {Matthew 28}.

There are many aspects of a healthy Christian marriage. One of those aspects is serving.
Serving as a husband and wife team has many benefits. Benefits like bonding together, meeting the needs of others, giving, learning to work side by side, and fulfilling the Great Commission {Matthew 28}.
Here are just a few ways that you and your husband can serve together:
- Find a ministry in your church that you can work at together. Churches always need people to serve. You could be door greeters, take care of the church lawn, work the hospitality ministry, attend your church's outreaches, or serve in your church's food ministry, just to name a few. Take a look at the needs of your church and find one that you can do together.
- Serve your community. There are many needs in our communities. Some may include picking up trash on the side of the road, helping an elderly neighbor with the upkeep on their house, or mow the lawn for a single mom, the list is endless.
- Care for the widows. We used to live across the street from an elderly lady who had no family. Everyone in the neighborhood thought she was mean. My husband and I found that she was actually very nice, but also very lonely. We would go over to her house and my husband would do things like change lightbulbs and other light maintenance things while I sat and visited with her. Do you have an elderly neighbor who needs help?
- Help single parents. A home with 2 parents can be challenging sometimes. For homes that only have a mom or only have a dad, or even homes where a grandparent raises the grandchildren, life can be hard, with no break. If you know a single parent, offer to take kids for a couple hours a week so that the parent can get things done like house work, errands or even a nap.
- Mentor a young couple. We are called to mentor others {Titus 2}. If you know a young couple just starting out, offer to mentor them. You could meet for coffee a couple times a month or even have them over for dinner on a regular basis. This will be a huge benefit to your marriage and theirs.
What are some ways that you and your husband serve together? Share your thoughts and experiences.
