You Gotta Pray For Your Husband

The new movie, War Room, is becoming one of my all time favorites. It's also the most life changing movie I have ever seen. I've seen it twice already and cannot wait to see it again. I could go on and on and on about the movie and why you should see it. But I won't. Well, not today anyway. But I want to share one of my {many} favorite lines from the movie. Ms. Clara is talking to Elizabeth and she says, "Elizabeth, you gotta pray for your husband."

Those words could not be more true. Wives, we need to pray for our husbands. They need us to pray for them.

Your husband needs you to cover him in prayer. Daily. He needs you, whether he knows it yet or not, to lift him to heaven. He needs you to pray for him as a husband, a father, a son, an employee, and whatever other hats he may wear.

There are 2 problems with wives praying for their husbands.

1. We often pray that God would change our man. This is not the type of prayer we need to pray. Yes, we need to pray that God would change him into the man God wants him to be. But we do not need to pray for him to be the man we want him to be. So don't pray for him to be more romantic or put the toilet seat down. Pray that he is a man seeking after God. Everything else will fall into place.
2. We don't know what to pray for our man. It's so hard sometimes to know exactly what to say when we pray for our husband. We want prayers that honor God and will bless our guy, but what are those prayers? Simple solution: pray God's Word over him.

I have a copy that I refer to often as well as over the years I have bought numerous additional copies and handed them out to wives as God led me. 2. A few months ago I discovered an iPhone app by Sharon Jaynes, called Praying Wives. In the Praying Wives app, Sharon gives a daily verse and prayer to pray over your husband. These short prayers pack a powerful punch. I love this app and love praying these prayers over my man. She also has a book by the same name.

Wives, become a wife that lifts her husband to God on a daily basis. If you do, you will see a change in your man, your marriage, your home and even in yourself.
