What Does Faith Look Like?

By: Shari A. Miller

It's time to get down to the nitty gritty.

When who we are meets what really is, and it's an unnerving sight.

The tears fall one by one, because we are trying to push through the dark with every once of strength that we can muster. But, does it really have to be this way? Do we really need to go through life, full force, with what little power we have left, trying to do it all on our own, while we become more and more exhausted with each day?

The answer is a resounding no, this is not what our lives need to look like!

We are missing one key ingredient......faith.

We are at war friends. At war with an unseen enemy, that tries to tear away at our souls, bit by bit as we become more and more discouraged with life. We do not have the power to conquer the daily attacks and discouragements of satan, God never meant for us to do life on our own.
The answer to this assault of unseen evil  is plain and simple.
We need to have faith in Jesus.

But, what does faith look like?

"Now faith is the confidence of what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see."
Hebrews 11:1 (NIV)

Faith is the act of believing in God for the unbelievable. It's trusting Him to work all things out for the better, according to His supreme and Holy plan.

"Faith is not the belief that God will do what you want. It is the belief that God will do what is right." - Max Lucado

Faith lived out in real life looks like the widow, who lost her husband in a deadly car crash, getting up each morning having faith that her God is enough to see her through. It's her relying on God and not on her own devices to move through the day with a smile, knowing that God will carry her through whatever unseen circumstances may face her day.

Faith lived out in real life looks like the cancer patient who is going in again for another set of tests to see if the cancer has spread, while trusting in God to give her His best outcomes, according to His will. It's her believing in God that He will get her through every step of the process even through she can not see Him working by her side, she has faith in knowing that He indeed is there.

"Faith expects from God what is beyond all expectation." ~ Andrew Murray

Faith is not necessarily seen, but rather is something that is felt in the depths of our being. It's believing in an unwavering truth that God wants what is best for His children, and we put our trust in that no matter the outcome. It's a releasing of our will into his, and finding relief that He can handle the situation much better than we ever could on our own.

I believe this faith is found by crying out to the Father and asking Him to help our unbelief and leaving the situation and the outcome with Him.

Are you with me friends? Are you ready to choose faith in God and have the assurance that all will be made well according to His will? Let it go today. Whatever is happening in your life release it all into the palm of His hands and watch the power of faith unfold.

"So we are always of good courage. We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, for we walk by faith, not by sight." 2 Corinthians 5:6-7 (NIV)
