Sometimes we forget something very important about marriage.
We are a team.
We must work together, not against each other. We need to build each other up, not put each other down.
We need to remember that once we took those marriage vows, we become one flesh. We can't battle our own flesh. Stop working against your mate and start working as one.
How do you and your husband work together?
I love this song by Tenth Avenue North. While the song refers to relationships in general, I think we can apply it to marriage. No husband or wife is an island. We must work together.

...and the two shall become one flesh.
They are no longer two, but one flesh.

This is probably the single most important piece of advice for a couple! It's especially true when children are involved. Kids learn quickly how to work mom and dad against one another. If we are on the same page, that won't happen. We must work together...we are a team.
ReplyDeleteOh boy, this is an area where I know I can do better. I often remind myself (and my husband) that we ARE, in fact, a team, so let's figure out how to be the best team we can be. The stakes are high and I want to WIN!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the song too. I love Tenth Ave North! God bless you.
