"2 On the seventh day
God had finished his work
of creation, so he rested from all his work."
Genesis 2:2 NLT
This verse is so important. We need to realize that life isn't all work! Yes, we must work. But if that is all we do, we will certainly burn out. Everyone needs down time. Everyone needs that moment in time when they can just relax and take it easy.
I said all that to tell you that if God thought it
was necessary to 'rest' from His work, then why would we think we don't need to rest? Rest - Relaxation - Rejuvenation! These days it's often hard to 'take time off.' And many people/families can't afford a 'vacation.' Listen, vacations don't need to be huge to be restful. A weekend doing anything that is out of the ordinary could constitute a vacation. When my hubby and I first got married we couldn't afford l-o-n-g vacations. Our vacations consisted of a long weekend headed 3 hours southeast of us to Branson.
It was that way for about 6 years. Then one day we decided we could maybe do a little longer and went to Colorado! Our vacations now are about 10 days long. And we try to take 2-3 weekend trips a year. Those times away are vital to our health and well-being. Honestly, in the past 2 years we've not had our normal 'time away' and I can tell. I am not focused. I am a little foggy. I need to get away.

With that said, we are taking a vacation...we leave tomorrow for 11 glorious days! We are headed to the beach and I can't wait to watch the sunrise over the horizon!!
