Suffering.
We've all had our share of misfortunes that have come into our life and shaped us into who we are.
When we go through these trials it can be easy to take our eyes off the Father and put them onto the pain we are feeling. We can get caught up in our situation, spin our wheels with worry, and end up going no where fast. The truth is, we can get so focused on self and our problems that we and forget the searing truth of what being a child of God means.
Being a child of God, means resting in His presence, trusting Him with our lives, and knowing that He will work all things out for our good.
So, when the times of suffering come, we need to remember that it's no excuse to stop serving.
No, matter how deep the hurt is that you bare, you need to turn to Jesus and remember the resounding truth that God offers us,
"Be still and know that I am God." Psalm 46:10 (NIV)
Paul and Silas knew the exact meaning of praising Jesus, while they where going through suffering,
"About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them." Acts 16:25 (NIV)
Even in prison they did not focus on their earthly troubles, but instead they put their focus on God, and they where a witness to God because of this.
I want to challenge you this week....when the troubles of life seem to overwhelm you and you feel like you are drowning and have no way out....turn to Jesus.
Praise Him, and seek His guidance through the situation. Ask Him what you are supposed to be learning, and who you are supposed to becoming during this time. In doing these things, He will be glorified and others will see Jesus inside of you, because you choose to use your trial for good and in turn glorify His name.

Three rules to this link up:
1. Must be a {Christian} faith post.
2. You must link back to W2W somewhere in your post.
3. You must visit and comment on at least one other blog in the link up.
What a good admonition to turn to Jesus when suffering. It's so easy to use it as a time to complain, but I've found counting my blessings is the better way. I like your suggestion that we ask Jesus what we're supposed to be learning through our suffering. When I'm in the middle of suffering I just want to ask, "When will this be over?" ~Pamela
ReplyDeleteSuch a great reminder! We will suffer in life, but we always need to praise God and serve.
