"Mommy? Why do moms say they have eyes on the back of their head? I've never seen them!"
My youngest asks this all the time.
She is enthralled with the idea that moms can see things they are doing and moms can know things they are doing and moms are just all around smart.
Finally, I told her, "Honey, moms don't really have actual eyes on the back of their heads. That is just a saying. But we do have something special that helps us know things. God."
She just looked at me.
Her look said, "What is that supposed to mean?"
We went on to have a great conversation about moms and God and kids and knowing things.
Moms, we have the ability to have "eyes on the back of our heads" through the power God gives us.
He can speak things to us, help us "just know" things, give us wisdom beyond our natural ability to parent with truth, knowledge and strength.
The Holy Spirit can help us deal with things we can't see and things we are unsure of in our kids lives.
God is our eyes for every blind spot in parenting.
I can't tell you how many times I have known things, felt things, sensed things that I should not have otherwise known. That is God.
Moms, we need to daily pray for God's presence to be with us as we parent. We need to ask Him to be our eyes and ears and give us special insight into our kids' lives. We need to actively seek God's help as we parent our kids through a very big, unknown world.
Make sure those eyes on the back of your head are working with power and strength that only God can give and enable!
Have you ever sensed God at work? Have you had "eyes on the back of your head" moments?
Fun on the journey,
Excellent post!
