2 Words To Keep Out of Your Marriage

By: Jenifer Metzger

The old saying sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me, is the farthest thing from the truth. Our words are powerful. Words can break someone or encourage them.

When talking to your spouse, whether in a disagreement or not, your words are important. We must watch what we say because our words can bring life or choke someone to death.

2 words to keep out of your #marriage

In marriage there are 2 words we should never say.

Never

Always

You never listen to me!

You are always angry!

You never keep your promises!

You are always running from the problem!

You never work hard enough!

You are always hurting my feelings!

These 2 very simple words have a powerful punch. They accuse, whether falsely or in truth. When disagreeing with your mate, strive to keep these words out of your conversation. We can easily get our point across without accusing and belittling.

What are other words we should refrain from using?

  1. 'Divorce' should never be in the vocabulary of a Christian marriage (except in the case of abuse). All problems can be worked through with the proper help. God intended marriage to be life-long, not throw away!

  2. Every time...
That's one that shouldn't be used too.
