Stepping Out from the Pressure
Pressure. We all know what that feels like.
Positive pressure. Negative Pressure.
Pressure from health or family or busy schedules or struggling marriage or school issues or sibling problems or kid attitudes.
Pressure we put on ourselves or pressure put on us by others.
Wherever it comes from, pressure can weigh us down and keep us from feeling the joy in Christ we are gifted with each day.
Pressure can keep us from being the mother and the wife and the friend and the sister and the daughter that we should be for our friends and family.
Honestly, stepping out from under the many pressures in our lives in quite nearly impossible.
Our lives come with deep responsibility and with that comes the normal pressures of life.
But God's Word does give us some helpful tips for stepping out from the effects of the pressure and allowing God to bear the weight for us.
1. Let go of yesterday.
Lamentations 3 reminds us that his compassions never fail. God's mercy and faithfulness are new every morning.
Isaiah 43:19 says, "See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland."
2. Let go of tomorrow.
We are not called to worry about tomorrow! We do not have to bear that burden. This day carries enough trouble of its own... so why willingly pick up tomorrow's troubles as well?
Matthew 6:34 says "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."
3. Choose to live for God today.
Do what you can do for God today. Follow the Golden Rule. Exercise the Fruits of the Spirit. Accept forgiveness. Show genuine love for the people you come in contact with throughout your day. Live for the eyes of God alone.
When you choose to live that way...
letting go of yesterday and tomorrow...
living in the blessing of today...
you can let go of the pressures and remember that today is a day that our Lord has made.
He has a plan and a process and a job for today!
Yes, we experience the consequence of yesterday and we must pray about tomorrow but today...
oh choose to live for him today. Don't miss out on everything he has for you right in this moment by living in regrets or worries.
Fun on the journey,
