It's a New Year and that means new beginnings. Many people set resolutions, some choose One Word to focus on, but we are all given this beautiful chance to start fresh.
How can you start fresh in your marriage?
Think back over your marriage in 2013. What areas need work? Do you need to date more? Forgive easier? Communicate better? Be more supportive? Work on respect? Praying together? Once you know what area you need to work on in your marriage, make it a priority. Here are a few tips:
- Pray daily. Each day pray that God would bless your marriage and your relationship with your husband this year. Ask God to be in the center.
- Set smaller goals to reach. It is easier to reach smaller goals than to have this large, seemingly unobtainable goal in front of us.
- Set reminders. Give yourself reminders. You can do this by putting notes in your Bible, make up case, on your cell or in your dresser drawers. Places you look regularly.
- Find scripture to support your goal. Search the Word for scriptures that will help you along. Memorize them. Print them out and place them in places you will find them.
- Give yourself grace. We all mess up. We all fall off the horse. Give yourself, and your husband, grace. So you missed a date because the babysitter cancelled. Just schedule a date for the next available night. So he was sick for a few days and you didn't have devotions together. Just get back to it.
