Already missing the beach...

Well, another vacation is almost over...I always feel meloncholy towards the end of our vacation.  I am already missing the beach and I'm not even gone from it yet.  Each year as soon as one is over I am already counting the days to the next one.  I can't get enough.  I love to travel and when I am traveling with my hubby...that's the best.  I also love it when my kids & grandkids get to come along...we have a WHOLE FAMILY vacation planned for 2015 and I am so very excited about it.

We have had a great time thus far...we rode our motorcycle from home to Tennessee and then on to Myrtle Beach, SC.  Myrtle Beach is our family's favorite vacation spot!  Well, I say that, but it's really the only place my grandkids have ever been.  My kids had the pleasure of traveling to many places when they were small.  I am so very thankful that God has allowed me and my hubby to enjoy vacations with our kids.  We've gone every year since 1981.  They started out as just a long weekend to Branson, MO which is only about 3 hours from home.  But they evolved into a full 10-12 days over time.  They are some of the best 10-12 days of my year.

It is only the grace of God that has allowed us to take vacations.  I know many families don't have that luxury and I don't take it lightly that it is a blessing straight from heaven!  While we almost always travel a ways for vacation, I want to remind you that even if you don't travel away from home, you can still enjoy vacation time at home.  I think it is popularly call a 'staycation.'  There are so many things you can do in your own back yard, so to speak.  If you don't have the means to take an 'away' vacation, why not do some research on the things around your home...maybe within a 3-5 hour travel time from home and find out what you can do.  There are always nice zoos or museums that you could visit...water parks...amusement parks...botanical gardens.  You could take a train ride.  You don't have to travel far to have that special 'family' time.

As we begin the long drive home on Saturday...we will reflect on our trip this year and begin the waiting for next year.  Oh...this is a fun thing...at least we think so...when we are on vacation we NEVER, well, almost never, eat at a place we can eat at home. Say we have 'Applebees' at home...we don't eat Applebees while on vacation.  We try to eat at restaurants that are not common to our own neighborhood.  It is fun to try new places!

Have a great rest of your week.
