Marriage Monday - Power of a Praying Wife Week 28

Women everywhere deal with self-image. We are not alone. Men deal with many of the same struggles when it comes to self image. Maybe not always in the same way as women, but they do.

He may have problems with his self-image from his past. Someone hurt him, watching his own father struggle, not having a father, there are many reasons. But he will always struggle with his self-image until he realizes he was made in the image and glory of God.

You, sister, will always struggle with self-image until you realize you were made in the image and glory of God.

God created all beings. He formed us together in our mother's womb. We were created in the likeness of Him, the Almighty. He loves us, cherishes us. We are His. Men and women alike. He treasures us.

We need to come to a full understanding of this. We need to put aside the world's views of beautiful/handsome, strength, and power, and focus on God's truths.

Pray that your husband would come to see his value in God. That he would find his self-image in the One who he is designed after.

This Week's Prayer:

Lord, I pray that {husband's name} will find his identity in You. Help him to understand his worth through Your eyes and by Your standards. May he recognize the unique qualities You've placed in him and be able to appreciate them. Enable him to see himself the way You see him, understanding that "You made him a little lower than the angels, and You crowned him with glory and honor. You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands; You have put all things under his feet" {Psalm 8:4-6}. Quiet the voices that tell him otherwise and give him ears to hear Your voice telling him that it will not be his perfection that gets him through life successfully, it will be Yours.
Reveal to him that "he is the image and glory of God" {1 Corinthians 11:7}, and he is "complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power" {Colossians 2:10}. Give him the peace and security of knowing he is accepted, not rejected, by You. Free him from the self-focus and self-consciousness that can imprison his soul. Help him to see who You really are so he'll know who he really is. May his true self-image be the image of Christ stamped upon his soul.

Amen.

    1. Sharon, thank you for your comment. FULL acknowledgement of Stormie Omartian was given at the beginning of this series. As a matter of fact, it is also given at different times through the series. We also did a giveaway of her book, promoted her book, and talked with Stormie herself (via Twitter) during the series.
