Home...and my hubby...

Home...sweet word!  That's how I felt on Sunday morning at 3 a.m.  I left a week ago on Saturday morning...was gone until we headed home the following Saturday.  I LOVED being out of town with my beautiful granddaughter...just me and her!  But...it's now been over a week since I've seen my hubby...I needed to be home!

The original plan was to get a motel half way home.  As I approached that milestone...I began calculating in my head how many hours to home.  Goodness...it was only 10 more hours...I could do it.  Sure, I would be tired, but I could do it!  And do it I did!!!

I drove 20 hours from Orlando, Florida to our home...straight through stopping only for gas and to eat.  This is something that I never let Jim do when we go traveling...we never drive through the night any more...it's too hard on these old middle-aged bodies!!!  {*smiles*}  And even though he was glad to see me, he was not happy that I did what I never let him do.  He was concerned for my safety.

Yes, it's taken me several days to 'recover' from the drive, but I made it home safe and sound and was able to see my honey.  You see...we don't like being apart.  Some couples do fine when they are apart for extended periods of time.  I sometimes envy the military families that must endure separation after separation.  It is not something that Jim & I could handle!  We are happiest when we are together and I am thankful for that.  Today is our 37th wedding anniversary and I love him more today than I did on that day so long ago.  I cannot imagine my life without him and I don't want to.  He is my life on this earth.  I am blessed beyond measure to have him and I thank God every day for bringing us together...even though we didn't know Him at the time!

Yes, I am a thankful wife today!

What are you thankful for on this Thursday?

Blessings to you,

  2. LOL! Yes, Leah, I had just turned 17 and Jim was almost 17...yes, he was just 16. I robbed the cradle. Four years later, Jenifer arrived followed by a sister, a brother and another sister. Seems like a lifetime ago. I've been married longer than I wasn't!
