Before diving into this week's focus and prayer, I want to point out that one's pant size does not make him/her healthy or not healthy.
Health is a serious issue. God wants us to be healthy. When we are physically health, we are able to do the work He has called us to.
Now sisters, I am not here to nag you about your eating habits. My weakness for all things chocolate would make me a hypocrite if I nagged you. {smiles} But I am going to talk about exercising. I do not like to sweat. I hate it. Hate it with a strong passion. I also do not love exercising. But when I am done, I always feel so good. I have a short twenty minute workout dvd that I do several times a week. I also love to go walking, whether a nice leisurely walk or some hard core walking. {I just try really hard to not sweat.}
Those times of exercise feel so good. And working out helps you to make better food choices throughout the day. When I work out in the morning, I tend to drink more water and snack less.
We love our husband. Of course, he drives us crazy from time to time, but we love him. We want him to be around a good long while. Therefore, we need him to be healthy. We need him to care about his health. But we already know that nagging him does not work for anything; except maybe pushing him in the opposite direction. We cannot, should not nag him, but we can pray for him.
We should pray that God would help our husband to be healthy and that God would help him take care of himself. We can also be an encouragement to our man by being an example. If you are taking care of yourself regularly, he will be more encouraged to take care of himself. Plus, think of the time you can connect with one another while out on a walk or bike ride!
I have heard your prayer,
I have seen your tears;
surely I will heal you.
2 Kings 20:5
We also need to hold his health and well-being in prayer. When he is sick, no matter how big or small, lift him in prayer. Trust God for a miracle.
Lord, I pray for Your healing touch on {husband's name}. Make every part of his body function the way You designed it to. Wherever there is anything out of balance, set it in perfect working order. Heal him from any disease, illness, injury, infirmity, or weakness. Strengthen his body to successfully endure his workload, and even when he sleeps may he wake up completely rested, rejuvenated, and refreshed. Give him a strong heart that doesn't fail. I don't want him to have heart failure at any time.
I pray that he would have the desire to take care of his body, to eat the kind of food that brings health, to get regular exercise and avoid anything that would be harmful to him. Help him to understand that his body is Your temple and he should care for it as such { Corinthians 3:16} I pray that he will present it as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to You {Romans 12:1}.
When he is ill, I pray You will sustain him and heal him. Fill him with your joy to give him strength. Specifically, I pray for {mention any area of concert}. Give him faith to say, "'O Lord my God, I cried out to You and You healed me' {Psalm 30:2}. Thank You Lord, that You are my Healer." I pray that my husband will live a long and healthy life and when death does come, may it be accompanied by peace and not unbearable suffering and agony. Thank You, Lord, that You will be there to welcome him into Your presence, and not a moment before Your appointed hour.
