Worship Wednesday - It's Time to Get on the Right Path

This Wednesday at Woman to Woman we are in week ten of our eleven week study, "The Air I Breath Worship as a Way of Life", by Louie Giglio.

"Developing a personal life of worship is the most important thing you can do. It's where the worship journey begins. We've talked a lot about our worship being a response to God. If that's so, we've got to keep Him in view, daily pursuing the process of discovering who He is."

This is where our journey of worship begins.... when we get on the right path of daily discovering who He is, so that we might grow closer to Him and be able to worship Him more fully.

This can be a daunting task at first, He is not someone that you will gain full knowledge of over night. It will happen in bits and pieces, a little at a time. James 4:8a states, "Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you." The important thing is that we are willing to take that first step towards getting to know Him better.

It's about building an intimate relationship with Him, setting aside time for Him each and every day in prayer and reading His word, so we might understand Him more as we worship Him with all our hearts. It's also about having Him in our thoughts as we go about our day to day activities, thinking about His goodness, His character, and His word.

"What even may be more important than your time alone with Him is that you walk away from that time fully aware that He is with you, wanting to be a part of everything you do. In every little step you take throughout the day, keep Him in view."

In your time alone with God, consider reading through the Psalms and focusing on a specific character trait of God. Whether it be His kindness, love, compassion, wisdom, or faithfulness or anything else you might choose. Spend days focusing on this on trait, thinking about it as you go about your everyday tasks. Write your thoughts and the words the Lord is speaking to you in a journal, so you can process it and so the knowledge may start to dwell within you of who He is.

Praise Him as you go about your days and gain a greater understanding of His goodness. When you seek the character of God with your whole heart, you will be amazed at how much closer you will grow to Him. It will take your experience of worshiping God to a completely different level.

Getting to know the Father takes time and work. It's what He desires from us, and we owe Him nothing less. Are you willing to draw closer to Him, so that He might draw near to you? Today is the day to start dear friends, don't waste another moment.

"Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him." Psalm 34:8
