Word Filled Wednesday - Live Out Loud a Titus 2 Life
"Then they can train the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God." Titus 2:4-5
God calls each and everyone of us to be different. He wants others to look at us and know that the difference inside us is because of Him. He has roles for all of us to fill as we each uniquely fit into the body of Christ.
God calls women to live a life that's, on purpose, honoring to Him...to live out loud a Titus 2 life. He wants us to live a life that's pleasing to Him, seeking His will, and training younger women to do likewise.
The first phrase of Titus 2:4 states, "They train the younger women..." I don't know about you, but when I was newly married, with young babies of my own, how I longed for an older woman, a mentor, to show me the way. I wanted someone to tell me that the hard days of being a young mom where normal and they would not last forever. I wanted someone to talk to about how to be a good wife, advice on what the Lord wants a woman's role to be. Unfortunately, as to often is the case for many, this was not something I had.
God has placed on my heart the desire for me to be the person, the mentor, I wish I had when I was younger. I want to let the young wives of today know that they are not alone. As it states in the last half of of Titus 2:4 and verse 5, an older woman's job as a mentor is to teach the current generation of new moms to "....to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God." What better way to teach another than a life lived of trial and error, of success and joys. God's given us this life for a reason. He wants us to use our stories, our histories, to impart to others that God is a loving God full of grace and mercy who will always be with them.
What about you? Did you have a mentor growing up? It may take sacrifice and commitment on your part to be there for that new mom, or it could come in the form of something small like an afternoon of babysitting, or possibly a homemade dinner.
I challenge you this week sisters to take a look at Woman to Woman Ministries one word for the year which is , "serve". Ask the Lord to place on your heart how you can be different and "serve" the young who so desperately need that mentor. Ask Him how He wants you to "Live out Loud" the life of a Titus 2 woman.
Currently at Woman to Woman we have brand new Titus 2 merchandise. Below you can see our "Living out Titus 2" tee. These will only be on sale for the next week.
