Christmas time, one of
the most joyous times of year, can quickly turn into a pull-out-my-hair, if-
someone-gives-me-one-more-fruitcake-I’m-going-to-throw-it, when-will-this-holiday-finally-be-over
season. When we should be celebrating
the birth of the One who came to save us, we are stressing over piles of
wrapping paper, baked goods and party invitations. The busyness steals our peace and robs us of
joy. So how can this holiday season
peaceful? How can we remain joyful? Here is what your Woman to Woman gals have to say!
Debi, In the past, Christmas has been extremely stressful for me. I am the type of person that likes everything done just so. When it isn't, it really makes me crazy. However, of the most recent past I have found that focusing on Jesus more and on everything else less helps. Being the OCD person I am, I find that focusing on what is important is vital. I am still learning, but with the help of our Creator, this may be my first ... almost ... stress-free Christmas! Pray for me! {smiles}
Mandy, "I realize that while this can be a stressful season I don't want to be flustered for my holiday. I'm not very nice when I'm like that and I don't want to make my family miserable during their holiday so I plan as much as I can and let the rest of it go. The only important thing is that I'm with my family and that my kids are making memories. So I guess just let it go and put it in God's hands."
Shari, "Our family has found peacefulness during the holidays by making sure they remain Christ centered. When our focus is on "What can I get? or How big can this holiday party be?" things start to go off course and stress starts to build up fast. Christmas is not for worshiping things of this world. Instead our eyes need to be fixed on the majesty and wonder of the Savior's birth, and drawing closer to Him during this time. There is a reason it's called CHRISTmas...it's to celebrate CHRIST and worship His goodness. When you take the time to put Christ first, that's when true peace can be found."
Jenifer, "Never, ever skip your quiet time with God. Period. No matter how busy you think you are, skipping your time with the Father cannot happen. After all, this season is all about Him!"
