Worship Wednesday - Do You Need a New Pair of Glasses?

Have you ever noticed a change in your vision? One minute you can see things as clear as day and the next minute, it's time for a pair of new glasses. This can happen with our earthly vision as well as our spiritual vision.

The picture above was taken in downtown Seattle on a smoke filled day. The smoke was from forest fires in central Washington. The more the fires progressed and heated up, the harder it became to see what was in front of us.

So many times the trials of life can cloud our perspective and the way we see things. When difficulties overtake us and begin to break our spirit like a fire overtakes the landscape of a majestic mountain, it's easy to lose focus, panic and take our eyes off who matters most.....God. When we listen to satan's lies and fail to put on our spiritual armor, read God's word and come to Him in prayer, it's easy feel like we're being suffocated from the smoke of the fire and struggles around us.

There is a solution to getting rid of the fires in our lives......the act of worship.

The picture above was taken a year prior to the fires, you can see that the image of Seattle's skyline is clear and crisp. When we take the time to worship the Savior by hungering after His word and wanting to be in His presence things change. As we put on our spiritual glasses, and listen to the voice of God our vision becomes clearer and our problems become smaller. When we adjust our vision through the act of worship, (praying, reading our Bible, meditating on God's word), a sense of peace will fulfill every fiber of our beings.

Make sure you put on your spiritual glasses sisters, get rid of the old ones that don't allow you to see with clarity.  Don't neglect the Father, give Him the honor that He deserves by developing a relationship with Him like you have never had before. Come before His thrown and watch the smoke of confusion diminish and find the peace of God that you have been searching for all along.

"And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." ~ Philippians 4:7

  1. Shari, I love this! I wore glasses for twenty years (before I was blessed to have lasik) and I know how hard it makes things to not be able to see clearly. Even now with good vision, there are times when my eyes adjust and I cannot see completely clear. Thank you for this wonderful encouragement!

  3. Reminds me of the old saying about seeing the world through 'rose-colored' glasses. The only way to see our surroundings is through His eyes and this can be SO hard to do...
