The Drink Offering

In 2nd Timothy Paul describes his life as a Drink Offering. He also mentions this in Philippians 2:17. When I read this, this morning I wanted to know more. What is a Drink Offering?

A Drink Offering was a very small glass of wine poured out at the base of the altar, it was a small thing considering the sacrificed animal but the drink offering was done as worship, as gratitude to God for all He was doing.

Paul's life was a drink offering. He considered his service to God a very small thing considering what Jesus did but he offered his life freely just the same.

At the end he was able to say he fought the good fight, he finished the race and he kept the faith.

I don't know about you sisters but I want my life to be a drink offering...my faith and service are very small things compared to what Jesus did for me on the cross but I want to offer my life freely, completley surrendering to God, completley trusting God no matter what comes my way.

What about you? Will you offer up your life today as a drink offering? Don't worry about tomorrow, just focus on today...surrender, offer your life...lift your hands to your Daddy in Heaven and pour out your life on the altar of God.

Do everything without complaining and arguing, so that no one can criticize you. Live clean, innocent lives as children of God, shining like bright lights in a world full of crooked and perverse people. Hold firmly to the word of life; then, on the day of Christ’s return, I will be proud that I did not run the race in vain and that my work was not useless. But I will rejoice even if I lose my life, pouring it out like a liquid offering to God, just like your faithful service is an offering to God. And I want all of you to share that joy. Yes, you should rejoice, and I will share your joy. Phil 2:14-18 (NLT)
