A yummy Fall snack!

Today I would like to share a recipe with you that is indicative of the season we are currently enjoying.  Fall is probably my all-time favorite season.  I love the crispness in the Fall air.  I love the many festivals and fairs.  And, I love the foods of the season, as well.  With all that said, I am going to share with you a recipe for Kettle Corn.  Yummy Kettle Corn doesn't have to be made in a giant kettle!  Growing up, one of our 'family' snacks my mom would make was something she called 'Sugared Popcorn.'  It was truly a favorite of mine.  I have, in fact, made Sugared Popcorn for my kids many times.

I think I will give you the recipe for both popcorns.  There really is little variation in the two.

Sugared Popcorn:
Oil, enough to coat the bottom of a pan (about 1/8" deep)
Sugar, enough to coat the bottom of the pan (also about 1/8" deep)
Unpopped Popcorn

Place pan on burner, add oil, add sugar, add popcorn.  Put a lid on the pan.  As the popcorn begins to pop start moving the pan back and forth over the fire or burner.  As the popcorn begin to slow popping, remove from the heat and carefully remove the lid being careful to keep your face back.  Pour into a bowl.  Yummm!

Kettle Corn:
Oil, enough to coat the bottom of a pan (about 1/8" deep)
Sugar, enough to coat the bottom of the pan (also about 1/8" deep)
Butter, depending on how much popcorn I am making, I will use somewhere between a tsp and 2 tbsp.
Unpopped Popcorn
Salt

Place pan on burner, add oil, add sugar, add popcorn.  Put a lid on the pan.  As the popcorn begins to pop start moving the pan back and forth over the fire or burner.  As the popcorn begin to slow popping, remove from the heat and carefully remove the lid being careful to keep your face back.  Pour into a bowl.  Sprinkle with salt.  Yummm!

I told you, the recipes are nearly the same...the only difference is the salt.  I've heard some people will also add brown sugar to the Kettle Corn recipe.  I personally haven't tried that, but it sounds very good.

So, as our nights get cooler why not settle down after a good meal for some family time with a batch of Sugared Popcorn or Kettle Corn?

Have a great day and enjoy this yummy snack...
