Like or Is?

One of my new favorite songs is Furious, by Jeremy Riddle.  The chorus goes like this:

His love is deep, His love is wide
And it covers us
His love is fierce, His love is strong
It is furious
His love is sweet, His love is wild
And its waking hearts to life

As I was praying this morning, I had this song playing in the background.  The word fierce just really stands out to me; it makes me think of a lion, which reminded me of a couple of scriptures.

Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around
like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.
1 Peter 5:8

Then one of the elders said to me, "Do not weep!
See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the
Root of David, has triumphed.
He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals."
Revelation 5:5

Something really stands out to me with these scriptures. The first scripture says that our enemy is like a roaring lion.  Revelation says that Jesus is the Lion of the tribe of Judah.  The devil pretends to be a lion.  He acts like a lion, when he is just a counterfeit.

But Jesus . . .

Jesus IS

He is The Lion!

And His love for me is fierce.

When Satan comes prowling around like a lion, he is met by The Lion.  And this Lion is fiercely in love with me!

Don't be afraid of the one who is like; who pretends to be.
