Yesterday was our very first post in the Tasty Tuesday series. Did you get a chance to try out the yummy recipe? Don't forget about the fun giveaway we are running through September 6th. You have several chances to enter each day, so be sure to check in daily.
With my title you may think that I'm going to focus on food again today, and you would be right. But I don't want to talk about tasty lasagna or other food that only feeds our body; I want to focus on what we are feeding our spirits.
You are probably familiar with sayings like, "Garbage in, garbage out" and You are what you eat.
The food we feed our physical bodies has the ability to make us feel healthy and alert, or sluggish and diseased. It all depends on what we put in our mouth. The same is true with our spirits. The music we listen to, books we read, and words we hear feed our spirits and can bring either life or death.
What are you feeding your heart today?
The Bible puts it this way, "For the mouth speaks out of that which fills the heart." (Matt. 12:34) If we fill our hearts with junk, then junk is going to come out of our mouths. But if we fill our hearts with God's Word, then His Words will come out.
Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O LORD, my rock and my redeemer. Psalm 19:14
How would you describe your daily spiritual diet?
I want to "eat" and meditate on God and His Word. I want what I say, do, listen to, read, watch, everything to be pleasing to Him. Great post.
ReplyDeleteThis is so true, if we chow down on God's word every day we would be able to face so many every day issues with much more patience, kindness, compassion. I had a "snack" this morning I'm going to read more on naptime. Thank you for this post.
ReplyDeleteHi Lisa - you have answered a point I was pondering after a guest speaker spoke at our church this weekend. I so want to fill my soul with God food, not junk food! Great encouragement to fill up with what is right and true.
ReplyDeleteGod bless

Wow - we're thinking alike these days, Lisa. I was just playing with a post the other day about "Spiritual Junk Food." You summed it up so well here :)
ReplyDeleteWhat am I feeding my heart today? Hmmm, a triple spoonful of sarcasm. Yep, I need to rethink that one a bit.
ReplyDeleteI like your blog. I think my spiritual food line is: walk with God and be sincere ( 'oprecht' in Dutch - don't know if sincere is the right word for it)
