This passage made me think of the account in 1 Samuel chapter five about another fallen idol. The Philistines had captured the Ark of the Covenant and put it in the temple of their god, Dagon, next to his statue. The next morning, the people went to the temple and found the idol face down on the floor in front of the Ark. They took Dagon and put him back in his place, but the next morning he was back on the floor, this time with his head and hands broken off. That story makes me smile. Can you picture it? How great is our God!
The thought of God smashing idols caused me to wonder. What if God said He was going to come and destroy all the pagan altars in my life, what would that look like? What if God took His sword and demolished all the pagan shrines in your life? Would it be easy work because you don't have any idols, or would your world be turned upside down?
You must worship no other gods, for the LORD, whose very name is Jealous, is a God who is jealous about his relationship with you.

Love It! Really, Really Love It! The story of Dagon Thrills my heart! I pray that God would shed light on any idols in my life and shatter them. Thank you!
